SF Cutters is the World's first Apple Final Cut Pro User Group forming in March of 2000.

That's right, the concept of a DV User Group, complete with networking, screenings and tech info centered around Apple Final Cut Pro was born right here in San Francisco. Currently there are 66 chapters of Final Cut Pro and ProApps User Groups based upon our model. We are proud to be the founders of this exciting movement, dubbed in 1999 as "The DV Revolution". Viva!

News & Updates

Hey people,

For those of you wanting to submit a "mini-reel", please do so before September 20th. If you don't know about the Mini-Reel project, you can review the presentation at http://www.sfcutters.org/. It will be posted this weekend or email me or sfcuttster@gmail.com

But in essence, it's a project to help our community create more compelling demo reels that can be viewed on iPods, iPhones and other personal media devices.

Instructions for participants: All you have to do is cut your 90-120 sec demo reel, use Compressor to save to iPod/iPhone format (320x240 resolution, MP4 codec), and use YouSendIt.com or SendThisFile.com to me, at <moses@ngenven.com>.  Please use a subject field like "Mini-Reel Entry".

Ana Pedros, who runs video production at Google, and Paul Nordin, from El Mundo Bueno Studios, will serve as judges at this meeting. I believe that Claudia will have a prize or two set aside for the best mini-reel. We'll show the top 4-5, and let the judges select the winner.

Finally, let me know if you would like to purchase this iPod touch speaker:
http://www.newlaunches.com/archives/greenhouse_ipod_touch_speakers.php

The importer is willing to provide us with a discount. (Also, be wary of buying on eBay... some of the iPod speakers don't support the iPhone.)

Best of luck to all of you competing!

Moses
